In 1919 Walter Owen Bentley constructed his first own "3-litre" vehicle, which in 1921 was entered into the small serial manufacturing process. In 1931 the company went bankrupt and was taken over by Rolls-Royce. In 1998 the company was taken over by the VW concern.

The latest releases: Paris '2006 - Arnage restyling; Geneva '2007 - Brooklands; July 2007 - Continental GT restyling, Continental GT Speed; London '2008 - Continental Flying Spur restyling, Continental Flying Spur Speed; Paris '2008 - Arnage Final Series. Plans for the future: 2011 – the new Continental GT; 2012 - the Arnage successor.
