Between the years of 1899-1903 David Buick built a few prototypes of vehicles. In May 1903 the Buick Motor Company was established and the Runabout model was released. In 1904 it also entered serial production. The company was bought the same year by William C. Durant, who in 1908 established the General Motors concern. The same year Buick joined the new established concern. Buick cars are or were manufactured in the USA, Canada (from 1951), Mexico (2001-2006), China (between the years of 1998-2005 under the name of Shanghai GM Buick, between the years of 2002-06 Buick and from 2006 Shanghai Buick) and they are assembled in Taiwan (from 2006).
Latest releases: Detroit'2006 - prototype SUV Enclave; November 2006 Los Angeles - Enclave; New York'2007 - LaCrosse/Allure restyling, LaCrosse/Allure Super, Lucerne Super; Detroit'2008 - concept car Riviera. The production of LeSabre sedans was finished in 2005, and in 2007 the Rainier SUVs and Terraza minivans. Buick Rendezvous was manufactured in Mexico from March 2001 until December 2006. Plans for the future: 2009 - new LaCrosse/Allure.
