Cadillac represents the most luxurious and prestigious models of the General Motors’ concern. In July 1899 thanks to Henry Ford’s initiative the Detroit Automobile Company was established, which in the next three years built few prototypes under the Detroit trademark. Henry Ford left in 1901and in August 1902 the name of the company was changed to Cadillac Automobile Co. In September 1902 the company presented the first Cadillac model: the A Runabout model and in March 1903 it entered serial production. In 1905 the name of the company was changed to Cadillac Motor Car Co. In July 1909 Cadillac was taken over by the General Motors. In 1916 the name of the company was changed to Cadillac Motor Car Division. Cadillac vehicle are manufactured in the USA, Mexico (from 2001), China (from 2005, from 2006 under the trademark of: Shanghai Cadillac) and in Sweden (from 2005 r.), and are also assembled in Russia (from 2005).
